Since 2003, the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise has utilized a Renewable Energy Certificate, with 52% of its energy sourced from renewables in 2023, amounting to 5.5 million kWh annually.

Sustainable Resource Management

The destination includes an on-site glacier water treatment plant, smaller buffet portions to reduce waste, kitchen oil repurposed as fuel, and local, organic menu options aligned with the Ocean Wise program. Wildlife and Community Support: Contributions include donations to Parks Canada’s trout restoration project and the Clean the World program, which recycles hygiene products for distribution in over 120 countries.

Eco-Friendly Infrastructure

Efforts include energy-efficient lighting, low-flow plumbing, and the ability to calculate event carbon footprints using Science-Based Indicators, all contributing to the hotel's 5 Green Key Eco Rating for 33 consecutive years.
